Quality and Inspection

Titan Industries LLC machines precision components for aerospace, defense, OEM, and industrial customers from our shop in Wichita, Kansas. Quality here is not a final gate that parts either pass or fail. It is how the job is set up, documented, measured, and released, so the tenth release runs like the first.

Every job carries material identification, defined inspection points, and a documented setup. If your purchase order calls for something beyond that, send it with the RFQ and we will quote to it rather than assume it.

How We Control Quality

Documented Procedures

Quality procedures and forms are controlled documents with revision levels, not informal practice.

Material Identification

Material is identified on receipt and traceability is recorded against the job.

In-Process Inspection

Features are checked at defined points during the run, not only after the last piece.

Final Inspection

Parts are inspected against the customer drawing before they are packed and shipped.

First Article Inspection

FAI is performed to the requirement defined by the customer purchase order or drawing.

Nonconforming Product

Identified, segregated, and dispositioned under a written procedure. Nothing ships on a judgment call.

Inspection Equipment

Dimensional inspection is performed with calibrated equipment at the machine and at the inspection bench.

EquipmentUsed for
Micrometers and calipersOutside diameters, lengths, thicknesses, and general dimensional checks
Bore gagesInside diameters on bushings, sleeves, and bored features
Pin gagesHole size verification and go/no-go checks
Thread gagesInternal and external thread verification
Granite surface plateLayout, and flatness, parallelism, and squareness checks
Height gageLayout and location dimensions from a datum surface

If your part requires inspection methods or equipment beyond what is listed here, tell us on the RFQ. We will tell you plainly whether we can meet the requirement in house rather than find out after the parts are cut.

Material Identification and Traceability

Material is identified when it arrives and stays identified through the job. Traceability is recorded on a controlled form that ties the material to the job, so the parts you receive can be traced back to what they were made from.

Customer-furnished material is accepted. It is identified on receipt, segregated, and run against your job only.

First Article Inspection

First article inspection is performed to the requirement defined by your purchase order or drawing. Because FAI requirements and formats vary by customer and by program, we quote FAI as a defined scope rather than assuming it. Include the FAI requirement with your RFQ and it will be reflected in the quote and the lead time.

Control of Nonconforming Product

Nonconforming product is identified, segregated from good parts, and dispositioned under a written procedure. Dispositions are recorded, and:

  • Use-as-is and repair dispositions require written customer authorization before the parts ship. We do not make that call on your behalf.
  • Rework is performed to a defined method and re-inspected against the drawing.
  • Scrap is removed from the job and replaced.

Documentation That Ships With Your Parts

Documentation is supplied to the requirement stated on your purchase order. Commonly requested items include:

  • Certificate of conformance
  • Material identification and traceability records
  • Inspection documentation and first article results
  • Certifications from outside processors, where applicable

Outside Processing

Heat treat, plating, passivation, and NDT are coordinated through outside sources or managed by the customer, by agreement on the purchase order. Call out any special process on the RFQ and it will be reflected in the quoted scope, the lead time, and the documentation package.

Supplier Quality Surveys

If your purchasing or quality group requires a supplier survey, self-assessment, or approved-vendor questionnaire before we can quote, send it with your RFQ. We complete them and return them directly to your quality contact.

Continuous Improvement

Our quality documentation is actively maintained and expanded as customer requirements grow. When a customer requirement exposes a gap, the procedure gets written, not worked around.
